Our story
We opened Halfseed in 2019. Mara used to be an architect, Theo translated novels. We wanted a place that felt like the kitchen table at a friend's house. Somewhere you could sit and stay a while.
We found a narrow shopfront on Bellworth Lane and spent three months sanding the floors and painting the walls. Six tables. Mismatched chairs. A cork board by the door where regulars leave notes.
We roast small batches on Tuesdays and you can usually smell it from the street. Everything in the bakery case is made fresh each morning. We don't do anything fancy. We just try to do simple things well.
“We wanted a place where you could hear yourself think.”
